They need to atleast pro actively update their browsers. Then again, Hulu only works for US so the majority of ps3 owners are in Asia and Europe. |

2 edits | reply to badtrip I aggree... It would be awesome to be able to stream Netflix on my PS3. I looked into a program called PlayOn that makes it possible by basically streaming it to your PC, then streaming it again to the PS3 in a different format, but its an added cost that I can't justify. Sony won't do it because they want people to pay to stream movies on the Playstation Store. I would do that if they had the selection Netflix does and I could watch an unlimited amount of movies for a flat monthly fee, but nooooo... Sony charges by the movie and it's still cheaper to go and rent it from the video store in most cases. Likewise, I would go out and buy a Netflix-streaming device if they made every title (including new releases) available via streaming.
Oh well... |

I have a Wii, PS3 and a Xbox360 in my house. The PS3 is my personal console of choice mainly because it does damn near anything...except for the two things I really want it to do, play hulu and netflix.
Right now I connect a laptop to my TV when I want to watch netflix. I have been "window shopping" on the net to build a ION based HD media PC (the Zotac mobos look really good, IMO) but the total cost for that build is still hovering around $400 range and that's too costly ATM. |

 | Or you could get a Roku box for $100. I happened to win one in an online contest and it looks quite nice. Right now it only does Amazon VOD and Netflix, but they've promised more content. (There are even rumors of Hulu coming to the Roku box, but I wouldn't hold my breath.) -- -Jason Levine Support a children's charity. Buy a calendar and/or a photo book. Shooting For A Cause |

I found it while searching for anything suggesting the PS3 might do native Netflix streaming. It's inexpensive software that may eventually be obsolete but it works quite well for my purposes.
It can stream NetFlix to pretty much any UPnP or DLNA device and does the same with Hulu and Youtube. Amazon video is in beta and I don't think fully functional right now but I guess they'll get there.
In addition, they just added a beta feature to stream your local video and audio content to the same devices. In fact, I've found it much more compatible with devices than both TVersity and Twonky but it doesn't do everything they do.
It also "mostly" works with the DirecTV HR2x players. They're the only UPnP/DLNA devices it's acted a little flaky with and I believe it's DTV's issue not PlayOn's. The PS3 works great with it.
If they get a decent web interface to allow remote streaming of local music/video on PCs and not just standard UPnP/DLNA devices, I'll probably ditch TVersity and Twonky altogether. -- Tradition: Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid. --despair.com |

I'll either wait till the cost to build a HDMI ION box hits around $300 or wait till they add the functionality to the PS3. I like the PS3 option best because it costs the least for me |

It seemed that the Ion wasn't that much lower powered then one of the 45W AMD CPUs, but didn't have as much horsepower for anything beyond the most basic 1080P content. |

 | reply to badtrip If you put Ubunto or yellow Dog Linux on your ps3 which ps3 has officially made easy to do you can play Hulo on your ps3 no problem. Just a pain in the ass to learn how to install shit at first |
