All cable operators have their new release available same day as DVD.

Different type of business though. Cable operators may have new released available as Pay Per View on the day of the DVD release. But they don't have new releases as part of the free or premium movie channel VOD selection. If Netflix charged a fee for their instant programming, then a comparison could be drawn. But as it is now, the two are just two different business models.
