Re: PS3 would be nice, please. said by Hazy Arc:Add this continuing problem to the long list of reasons why I only use my PS3 as a bluray player...if at all. I have a Wii, PS3 and a Xbox360 in my house. The PS3 is my personal console of choice mainly because it does damn near anything...except for the two things I really want it to do, play hulu and netflix.
Right now I connect a laptop to my TV when I want to watch netflix. I have been "window shopping" on the net to build a ION based HD media PC (the Zotac mobos look really good, IMO) but the total cost for that build is still hovering around $400 range and that's too costly ATM. |

 | Or you could get a Roku box for $100. I happened to win one in an online contest and it looks quite nice. Right now it only does Amazon VOD and Netflix, but they've promised more content. (There are even rumors of Hulu coming to the Roku box, but I wouldn't hold my breath.) -- -Jason Levine Support a children's charity. Buy a calendar and/or a photo book. Shooting For A Cause |

I thought about that but being a hard-core utilitarian, I didn't want to spend $100 on a one trick pony. I'll either wait till the cost to build a HDMI ION box hits around $300 or wait till they add the functionality to the PS3. I like the PS3 option best because it costs the least for me |

| said by badtrip:I'll either wait till the cost to build a HDMI ION box hits around $300 There was a thread sort of on this topic over at AVSForum earlier this week. It seemed that the Ion wasn't that much lower powered then one of the 45W AMD CPUs, but didn't have as much horsepower for anything beyond the most basic 1080P content. |

 | reply to badtrip If you put Ubunto or yellow Dog Linux on your ps3 which ps3 has officially made easy to do you can play Hulo on your ps3 no problem. Just a pain in the ass to learn how to install shit at first |
