Rumor has it...

Bratton is resigning for a job in the private sector. Thoughts?
I'd like to see them promote from within this time, not that it affects me. In fact, I don't care who the LAPD Chief is.

Why did I start this topic?

Are you, sir, insinuating that I might be a bit of an instigator?

They will have a hard time promoting from within because the activists will denounce a tendency to cover up mistakes and misconduct. The problem is that that is SOP for every department. In fact the primary consideration will be the proper degree of political correctness. I predict a Muslim Hispanic woman that's a member of the Brady Center for hysterical gun control, and that's in a same sex marriage with an Buddhist African-American ACLU lawyer. That about covers it.

How could I have forgotten that requirement.

Now if it were me I'd nominate Norma Jean Almodovar. She'd fit right in the whorehouse that's LA City Hall.

I still have my full-size Cut The Red Tape campaign poster from when she was running for Libertarian office

I stand by my statement "She'd fit right in the whorehouse that's LA City Hall".

My only request is that the replacement does not have a distinctly other-region accent. When I hear that thick Boston mangling while the graphic says "LA Police Chief" it makes my head hurt.

A Pittsburgher would be even worse.

How about Heather Fong, retired token Chief of Police, SFPD?

Here's a pic that defines San Francisco... on the left, Chief Fong, the political appointment.

In the center, Teresa Sparks, the first ever transgender police commish.

On the right, Sgt. Stephan Thorne, the first transgender SFPD police officer.

See, that's OK. SF has a large Chinese population. That's not an outsider accent to me. A New England accent in LA seems as out of place as a ... well, me in church.

She's lived in SF all her life, so I'm pretty sure she doesn't sound like Charlie Chan or Hop Sing.
