I'll either wait till the cost to build a HDMI ION box hits around $300
There was a thread sort of on this topic over at AVSForum earlier this week. It seemed that the Ion wasn't that much lower powered then one of the 45W AMD CPUs, but didn't have as much horsepower for anything beyond the most basic 1080P content.
