Fork over the 20-30 grand to extend service areas and I'm sure they will.

I'll let the government pick up the tab. They can tap into that broadband stimulus fund since I qualify by being less then a mile away from city limits being consider rural and I am unserved by telcos and cable.

Thanks Obama!

They wanted $14000 to go an extra 2500 ft for a friend of mine. The sad thing for him is they terminate on both sides of his property and won't extend to him without a check.

Fuhgetaboudit. I need 2215 feet of cable to get to me and they want $9k to make the run. I'm investigating wirelessly grabbing the 'net from a friend's place and bringing it here...total cost should be a few hundred or less.

DDWRT, 2 Linksys WRT54G in client mode and 2 high gain antennas and you can get 1-2 Mbits at around 2100 feet. We use similar for our guardshack. Capital outlay less that $200.
