Simply put, unless a communication is directly for me and requires real-time return communication, it seems a bit pointless. And, if it does, there's things like the phone or AIM/Yahoo/MSN/gTalk.

So you can call up Kevin Smith and talk to him about howthe filming is going on his new movie, or maybe shoot him an IM? Wow, you are important.
I like to read what is going on with things like that. Opie and Anthony post pictures during the show. You read it, say "that's neat" and then move on.
