| [Other] Wireless G - Drops wireless - not cable
Hi Everyone New to the site and really hope you can help me? (Also huge apologies if this has been posted before but I have been searching for weeks with no luck - finally desperately posting).
I have an Apple MacBook Pro (2GHz Intel Core Duo, Airport built in wireless, OSX 10.5.6) which has never had any problems with wireless connections in the whole 4-5 years I have had it. Recently I moved back home, my Dad has a Virgin (UK) connection with a Belkin Wireless G Router (2.4GHz, 802.11g, F5D7230-4).
The issue I am experiencing is if I attempt to download anything with high bandwidth (up to 800kb+) the internet will die on the wireless. The connection is still there in my airport selection. If I turn off airport and then try to connect again it will simply time out. The only solution is to unplug the router mains (I also do the modem out of habit).
We have a PC connected to the router via ethernet and this will still work, but all wireless connections die (e.g. MBP, iPhone, Wii etc). I know that Virgin will cap connections if you download more than 3Gb and this is only at prime times. So I cannot see it being a ISP issue, also if the PC works it must only be the wireless router and not the modem!
I have looked at the Belkin options via the IP, I must admit I draw a blank with the majority of these settings! Could anyone please give me a bit of guidance/advice on how I can resolve this issue? I generally have to unplug the router 4-5 times a day and it is a painful experience if I am trying to work!
Thank you and I really appreciate any responses to my wireless nightmare!
