Old Thread
Hey i just installed cable and i have a question apprently my 50 foot wire isnt long enough to connect the router to my computer off by 6 foot unless i buy an 75 ft wire which i dont want to do =/. so i was thinking if i could put my router furthur away from my cable modem and if that would affect the speed at all in any i was thinking of putting it 12-20 feet away from my cable modem and i was worried if it would affect the speed at all im thinking of getting an CAT6A STP(Shielded Twist Pair) cable from the modem to the my router either an 14 feet or 20 feet one thanks. btw my router is an verizon westell 7500 and i have a rr cable modem RCA DCM 425 thanks

Re: [cable] How Far could i put my verizon router from my cable

Since it's Ethernet from the modem to the router, you should be able to go up to 300 feet (or so) with no problems. Speed won't be affected.
