Re: Workarounds incoming...

said by Jonbo298:

I'd rather not have a camera (or anything like a camera) watching me watch what I watch on TV. There will be easy workarounds to this if it comes to light.
Like a piece of black electrical tape over the camera.

on mythbusters, they demonstrated a plate of glass was able to block IR light coming from a person. i'm not sure if it would also block the remote's signal.

I'll just walk in front of it nekkid a few times... It's been known to break mirrors, and standard cameras. Should be a good test of my ugliness.
Heck, if I walk around nekkid when I am watching TV, they might just shut the damn thing off if they get tired of seeing my ugly self all the time!

Ummm...no. You misunderstood what MythBusters said, or they used incorrect terminology. I have loads of CCD cameras with a glass lens and it can see people with IR illumination just fine.

BTW, some formulations of Lexan (tm) will block IR and pass visible light, but not near as effective as a "hot mirror" filter made of glass and a new plastic formulation from Lee Filters.

They might have been talking about thermal imagery which can be blocked by glass. My thermal cameras have sapphire lenses.

Do that, and it wouldn't surprise me if the TV turns to an Adult channel and charges you $19.99.
