on mythbusters, they demonstrated a plate of glass was able to block IR light coming from a person. i'm not sure if it would also block the remote's signal.

Ummm...no. You misunderstood what MythBusters said, or they used incorrect terminology. I have loads of CCD cameras with a glass lens and it can see people with IR illumination just fine.

BTW, some formulations of Lexan (tm) will block IR and pass visible light, but not near as effective as a "hot mirror" filter made of glass and a new plastic formulation from Lee Filters.

They might have been talking about thermal imagery which can be blocked by glass. My thermal cameras have sapphire lenses.
