Re: From Rocky: OUTRAGEOUS CRTC Descision

I know this news is really fresh Marc/Steve but what are we looking at price wise for increases? Or do you have a plan going forward..

We currently do not have any plans for price changes. Obviously we will have to digest this and see how this plays out.

This is going to be a mess for you and Rocky. I don't see how you can modify the pricing any more to accommodate UBB, it just doesn't work on your side especially when you've already committed for all of that transit.

According to the tariff now approved (interim) :

The normal TSI fee ($29.99) with 60GB cap
Plus $1.125/GB to a maximum of $22.50
Plus $0.75/GB "excessive usage charge" for each GB over 300GB WITH NO LIMIT

Also Bell reserves the right to cut you off for excessive use.

So for me.. @ 175 gigs a month... $52.50 Plus tax.. So basically what's the point when I can get much FASTER services at 7 and 10 mb for about that..

What a joke! 5mb service for 52.50 is a ripoff. Not Teksavvy's Fault either which bugs the shit out of me.

What ISP offers 7mbit or 10mbit service that'll let you do 175GB for $50/mo? AFAIK, they all have caps of around 60-100GB, which means you'll either never hit 175GB, or will get hit with overage charges driving up the price well above $50/mo. I imagine TekSavvy would still be a better deal, even though it would suck compared to their current packages.

Yeah and you only get DSLAM access with the bundle which is $74 on a 1 year contract.

We do require you to get our POTS, but it need not be the bundle. You can get basic local for $19.95 and DSL add-on for $30. We do not market basic POTS, but it is available if you ask. Just make sure that you do not do LD, so you do not trigger the network charge.
And if you rely on remote, indeed chances are that either Bell will give us no facilities or you will be too far for decent speed, however, I have seen exceptions when we get the direct loop bypassing the remote.

and still doesn't mean they offer a viable product even if you could accept all of that.
