[FireFox] FireFox Browser Hijack?

I have FireFox 3.5.2 installed. My homepage is www.google.com. When I open my browser for the first time it opens www.version.com. I click the homepage button and www.google.com is displayed. The hijack ONLY occurs during the first page load of FireFox in the default profile. I have NoScript installed so I don't think anything bad is up.

I ran Malwarebytes, AdAware, Super Anti-Spyware and AVG and nothing was found. I also verified nothing crazy was in a HiJackThis log. I tried resetting my homepage in the options and nothing happens. Same as before. www.version.com loads during the initial load of FireFox.

Any idea how to fix it?

To add to this, I have two versions of FireFox installed and I use two profiles to have both running at the same time. This ONLY happens with the 3.5.2 version on both profiles while it doesn't happen at all on the older version 3.0.13.

Are you speaking of a website called 'version.com', or are you speaking of the Mozilla page that opens initially when your version of Firefox is upgraded?

I am speaking of the version.com. That only opens in the new FireFox as described in the first post. This doesnt happen in the older version. version.com is only displayed right after FireFox launches. If I close and reopen it will happen again (every time I restart FireFox 3.5.2). It's always the first page displayed, rather than my homepage, www.google.com.

If you set your browser homepage and it "just changes"...maybe your browser has been hijacked by the "go.google.virus"

or maybe you're just pulling our leg..anony-mously...

Sorry I am posting anonymous, just didn't have the time at first to create an account. Had one here a long time ago.

I looked up go.google.virus and tried the fix. I did not see the driver displayed in the hidden list (control panel -> system -> device manager) so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

I am at a loss on this one. Nothing looks bad in my HijackThis Log at all. I can identify everything. I find it odd that it happens on one version of FireFox but not the other. Also, my homepage does NOT change. It stays google.com. I click the Home button and it takes me right to google.

Checked my hosts file and everything checks out there too.

Sigh, anyone else? It's really bugging me

Well I think I fixed it, I guess. It's not happening anymore on any version of FireFox. I had the profile switch in the shortcut. I removed it and everything works fine. Now I am just selecting the profile manually from the ProfileManager.

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P “New Version"
