This speed test was conducted about 7:10a (CST) with everyone here @ work running it from the Dallas, TX Speakeasy Server.

I'll see if I can learn more about why it's that low - still, it's the best upload speed around here considering that the fastest HSI offering here is AT&T's "Elite" ADSL.

He choose speed test servers in CA and NY, when he is in LA. Routing may not be ideal between LA and those speed test servers. Choose a speed test in dallas or atlanta or somewhere else closer and it would show better numbers.

I ran the speed test from Dallas before, but I haven't posted it yet on here. Additionally, all LUS Fiber customers have 100Mb/s peer-to-peer intranet access.

There is also a local intranet speed test for testing performance within the network, which gave me a big surprise. Intially, I tested my in-network speed with the computer hooked up to my OpenWRT Linksys WRT54G router via the wired interface and received 32Mb/s down and 36Mb/s upload. After bypassing the router and connecting directly to my computer, the speed was 92Mb/s down and 96Mb/s upload. Up until now, the throughput of my router has been a non-issue, but now with the increased bandwidth, it presents a major bottleneck to sharing large files between my in-network friends.

I used ot get 75-85 Mbpps symmetric over my school connection (100 Mbit ethernet off of an OC3 for the whole school) but recently speeds have dropped due to congestion. Hopefully they'll have their own fiber ring in by the end f the summer. Then we'll have gigabit, and eventually 10GE.

I'm off-campus at this point so most of the time I'm on WiFi, which still gives 10-20 Mbps symmetric depending on where you are on-campus.

Would I move back on-campus, doubling my rent, to get 100 Mbps up and down? Probably not, since the darned thing is firewalled. Then again, I've been able to push 2 MB/s down and up on torrents over WiFi :D

Internet is included in my monthly rent, which is $1800 / month for a mini-studio. Oh yes, and an additional $45k / year in tuition.

And since its city owned, its better than a T1 that only spans locally for some things. I was going to get 2 t1's for my opelousas office and lafayette, but its more efficient to get 50 mbps up/down.

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. Is there any software to automate a speedtest like this? I pay for 50M but before there was a programming issue on the FIOS side and it went down to 12M until I called. I have Fios 50M/20M.

I want to test the line say 3 times a day, to make sure it doesnt go below 40M. Is what I am trying to do impossible? I am willing to pay for the app. if needed.

Its a mix of a 250Mbps fiber link with AT&T and a 200Mbps fiber link with EverestKC.

I only have a 100Mbps nic in my desktop so i can't go faster than that. PRTG shows the speedtest going through the EverestKC link.

When i had my own desktop here, Speakeasy in Chicago was the only speedtest that i could get above 100Mbps but upload has always been slow. I will have to test out Springfield next time i bring in my pc. I remember this test going out our AT&T link.

FYI, our public ip's are from Verizon but not our data links.

DC shows up as 1100 miles for me when it should be around 25 or 30.

FiOS needs to correct my upload provisioning since it should be at 20mbs.
