It was installed about 6 or so months ago and haven't had any issues at all! Additionally, all LUS Fiber customers have 100Mb/s peer-to-peer intranet access.<br><br>There is also a local intranet speed test for testing performance within the network, which gave me a big surprise.  Intially, I tested my in-network speed with the computer hooked up to my OpenWRT Linksys WRT54G router via the wired interface and received 32Mb/s down and 36Mb/s upload.  After bypassing the router and connecting directly to my computer, the speed was 92Mb/s down and 96Mb/s upload.  Up until now, the  throughput of my router has been a non-issue, but now with the increased bandwidth, it presents a major bottleneck to sharing large files between my in-network friends.]]></description>

Hopefully they'll have their own fiber ring in by the end f the summer. Then we'll have gigabit, and eventually 10GE.<br><br>I'm off-campus at this point so most of the time I'm on WiFi, which still gives 10-20 Mbps symmetric depending on where you are on-campus.<br><br>Would I move back on-campus, doubling my rent, to get 100 Mbps up and down? Probably not, since the darned thing is firewalled. Then again, I've been able to push 2 MB/s down and up on torrents over WiFi :D]]></description>

Lafayette La is like the first and maybe only (or handful) of cities to put their own fiber system up (city run), and their prices beat cox, att, and comcast/verizon if they are here.. they beat everyone. And since its city owned, its better than a T1 that only spans locally for some things. I was going to get 2 t1's for my opelousas office and lafayette, but its more efficient to get 50 mbps up/down.]]></description>

PRTG shows the speedtest going through the EverestKC link.<br><br><IMG SRC="http://www.speedtest.net/result/309377198.png"><br>When i had my own desktop here, Speakeasy in Chicago was the only speedtest that i could get above 100Mbps but upload has always been slow.  I will have to test out Springfield next time i bring in my pc.  I remember this test going out our AT&T link.<br><br>FYI, our public ip's are from Verizon but not our data links.]]></description>
