Any else out there having issues w/ the community page 4 pa?

When I tried to go to »www22.verizon.com/about/ ··· nity/pa/

I got the following error..
quote:
404 Not Found
COMPONENTS SCAN: Not able to map the file : error message :Could not open D:/app/web/verizon_common_31/about/community/pa/0,,,00&&en-USS_01DBC.html for read: The system cannot find the file specified.

I tried this with FireFox and Safari. IE, I just got 404 not found.

Thanks

^^

It's working just fine here on Verizon DSL with Firefox 3.5.2 installed.

Can't get to it either. Take off the "pa" and a page comes up just fine. I tried the links to several of the other states in the list on the page that displayed and they came up, but selecting PA from that list doesn't work. Maybe they are making changes to that page or something.

Or maybe they want to keep the PA info secret from you

It appears to be working fine here in RI on a 96.233.156.xxx IP, using Mozilla Seamonkey 1.16 and Firefox 3.something

Update.

Under trail and error, it seems that the new URL is

»www22.verizon.com/about/ ··· dex.html

Both URLs appear to point to the same page from here. Could it be related to your PA location?

I still get a 404 on the ..pa/ link, which is also the same as the link in 2 different bookmarks that I have. If I google the link, and click on the result, I get the 404. The cached result on google takes me to the page cached 8/6/09, and the links on that page work.

There was some issue with the FTTP construction link prior to the cache date. Don't know why they would change the page link, rather than fix the FTTP .pdf link. I get the same .pdf from either the new link, or the cached page. Must be just PA IPs that are still screwed up on the old ..pa/ link.

Changed my DNS servers on this PC from Vz defaults to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 with no effect.

In your location, with your OS and browser: Very interesting...

I do not know. Please tell me step by step how to trouble shoot this.

Mostly, all I did was observe there were two posts, yours and JohnA's, that confirmed the problem, when Smith and I had no problem. You and John show your location as PA, while we do not. Since all website access may stay on VZ's network, they may have some method of detecting location of origination, and may deliver different results accordingly.

This is pure speculation, and there's probably a simpler answer for it. It's possible portions verizon's website is hosted in different locations, hence the part that's going 404 isn't getting to you because of a routing error. Wild ass guess.

Traceroute and compare source of page elements for both URLs.

Whoops! just looked at the thread again and saw justin from TX had problems as well, so that blows my theory to bits.

WOW, I'm having the same problem on my new Fios setup.

I accessed the link from my work computer today (in DE) and it loaded up.

It's certainly an interesting problem.....

Changing the DNS Servers from Verizon Business Servers that I was assigned to use (71.242.0.12, 71.252.0.12, 71.250.0.12) to OpenDNS Servers (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) has no effect.

Update:

This is what I told at the online chat..
quote:
Richardo: if some people can get to both URLs and others can only get to the new one that could be that the old one is being done away with or if not that then it would have to be the setting for those computers that are not getting to the old one.

Me: Like what kind of settings?

Me: I have, as you may know, A Static Public IP (IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS Servers) as assigned by Verizon.

Richardo: that would be the settings within the browser.

Me: like cache, or proxy server for example... ?

Me: connection setting

Me: You do not need to tell me where these settings are, just what type of browser settings...

Me: Please, and thanks.

Richardo: the security , cookies, temporary internet files

[EDIT] My appolgies for Cross posting.
