| [Serious] Overdue Update
Hi All,
Yeah, I have been MIA again. It has been a wild time since June.
Mom had two rounds of Alimta that did nothing to reduce her cancer so we are moving on to another drug. We got the results of her latest CT (done on Tues.) that afternoon. Mom will be doing a pill called Tarceva for two months. She will start it next week after we meet with the nurse practitioner to go over the medication. Her type of lung cancer is soooo stubborn! Mom's hanging in there and fighting like a champ tho! Makes me proud to be her daughter! It is no wonder where I get my feistiness from. 
During her first cycle of chemo, I got sick with the junk that is going around. I lost my voice for two days. Then I coughed my head off and had horrible mouth pain. My best friend's mom passed away on July 13th after a long valiant fight with heart disease and dementia. After the funeral, I went down and stayed with my friends for eight days. I am sooo thankful that I had a place to go!

| Wow, gee, hang in there, my best for your mom and your friend! Prayers going out.
They will be trying Chemo with my nephew as well and chemo is known to not be very effective with his ependymoma, but in order for him to get on a trial for another treatment they have to attempt with chemo first. Ouch!
We all have to keep helping the search, pray some cures get discovered!

Hello, Kristi!
I miss you, and am glad to see you back again. Hoping that your mom will do better on the new chemo drug- she is some lady! I remember how afraid she was when all this began, and I am so very impressed with how brave she is.

It sounds like you have an excellent team of doctors and specialists who are putting up a good fight...and it is encouraging to hear your mom is fighting. You have every reason to be proud...of her, and of you!

Mom started the Tarceva yesterday. So far no problems but it just the second day.
BTW, Tarceva costs $3000, Mom only has to pay $25 a month for it. Thank goodness for decent prescription coverage!
