| Re: Sure AT&T might have the money... UVerse cabinets are expensive. They only make sense when you have a lot of customers within a wire-mile of the VRAD. Hence AT&T is forced to focus on urban areas if they want to pursue VDSL as their next-gen network.
Whereas fiber can go for miles, just like telephone lines, without amplification. So it makes a nice rural technology, which is why you don't see co-ops buying up VDSL equipment right and left.

| Re: Sure AT&T might have the money... The problem is that, while rural telcos will use the line booster/DSL repear equipment (every customer counts) AT&T doesn't see a need.
I'm curious as to how many customers the $2k per repeater serves though. I could buy a nice point to point wireless system with DOCSIS-class throughput for a fraction of that. Or pay for a fiber install for a semirural customer.

Then again, small price to pay to get off of dialup.

| Re: Sure AT&T might have the money... »ubnt.com has a listing of resellers. Howeer Ubiquiti is rather infamous for supply chain problems. Seems everything is out of stock.
That said, I've been checking
»wisp-router.com »wlanparts.com
For stock updates. | |

| Re: Sure AT&T might have the money... You're looking at two different products. The $39 model is the lower-power 2.4 GHz model. Which isn't in stock anywhere. The one you're looking at is one of the below:
1) The new ones (M series, MSRP $79) 2) The high-powered ones 3) The 5 GHz ones
Or some combination of the above.
