Re: Why would ANY of them want it?

Dirty money?

You think the government *now* is less trustworthy than it was before? You think the administration now is "creating a crisis" that doesn't exist? Do the phrases 'WMD' and 'Iraq' mean anything to you?

I guess what bothers you is the massive amount of oversight and thousands of auditors set up by the Obama administration over the TARP funds.

The health care crisis is partly a function of people paying 2 to 3 times as much as other countries for what amounts to worse healthcare on average. The crisis is also related to future projections of our national GDP being eaten alive by healthcare costs.

Worse healthcare? Where do people go for relatively instant treatment using cutting-edge technology? The U.S.

Additionally, look at other countries. You might be paying 2-3x what they are for healthcare, but guess who can actually go to an ER and get problems fixed right away. That's right, the people who pay more in the U.S.

You really do not know anything about this topic. The U.S. pays substantially more for all of our healthcare and we are only 37th on the list of quality outcomes! There are many nations on this planet providing high quality care, and there are Americans going overseas to obtain new methods and better prices for their procedures.

It is time to stop thinking that this country's past glories are our current glories, because they aren't. We skated on our past reputation too long, lulled by political ads and ranting Fox network type airheads making careers off of our ignorance. We've thought our grandparents' and parents' successes were our own, but they weren't. We've dropped the ball!

I have friends and relatives in Canada, France, England, and Australia and not a one of them would trade their healthcare system for ours. They are amazed we've accepted it. Our French friends never even think about how they will pay for their healthcare, or how they will pay for their children's college educations, so they live with less stress in that regard as well! The French don't fight over private issues like abortion either, so there's another area of ongoing stress they manage to avoid.

I lived next to the Canadian border most of my life, but never met a Canadian who came over the border to obtain our healthcare over his or her own. In fact, I've never met a Canadian who complained about his or her healthcare system! Same with our British relatives.

We invented the internet, but now we have the slowest internet speeds in the world. The U.S. has slower speeds than backwater, poor countries with recent civil wars or wars with neighboring invaders they've survived!

Germany is kicking our butts over wind power, and other European countries as well as China have a leg up on us in alternative energy because they haven't been such sellouts to the oil industry.

Even scientists do not look to the U.S. as necessarily the best place to go to do research anymore because in addition to our many other problems, we descended into an anti-science mentality that interfered, giving other countries a leg up on competing against us. While we were fussing over who other people sleep with, marry, do to their bodies, and so on, other countries stepped into the vacuum created. Even our money is no longer considered the most valuable and the international finance world is turing away from us!

As for the world's immigrants all lined up to get into our country before all others, that's changed too. Yes, we still have immigrants, but the numbers changed during the George W. Bush years so the majority are not coming here anymore, but spreading out to other countries as their first choice, and that includes some of the best and the brightest. They don't all want to come here anymore, which is absolutely our loss since that was one of the aspects of our country that helped us reach our status of world leader as quickly as we did.

We manufacture very little anymore so we are nation of buyers not sellers, which means we've lost countless jobs.

The one area we have become more successful than all other nations, including repressive dictatorships, is in imprisoning more of our citizens than all the rest. Our criminal justice system industry and prison builders are doing very well for themselves.

So, child, read and learn something instead of spouting old bumper sticker statements, if only to protect your own future.
