@cableone.net | Excessive use of bandwidth
Has any one that you know of, ever had their service terminated for excessive use of bandwidth? I don't. |

I've hit over 3 GB twice in about 2 weeks or so. -- ISP: CableOne 5 mbit/500 kbit |

That is with the 10mb/1mb service. I was monitoring the usage at their website, but it stopped recording almost a month ago. |

I don't mean to pry, but how often is quite often? 15 or more days per month? -- ISP: CableOne 5 mbit/500 kbit |

Is the bandwidth meter working for any one else on cableone's website? |

| I've signed up for their internet service (10/1 plan) in the middle of June this year. Since then, during billing cycle periods I've been exceeding 5120MB point 7 and 13 times for each individual period, thought I've seen my "Extended speed" going to "Standard speed" only 3-4 times since then because I've been using my connection way beyond daily limit of 5GB(5120MB) mostly at night time. To be clear about all this threshold and bandwidth thingy I've called technical support and they clearly stated that If you need to download things, do it at night when MBs are not monitored toward threshold. The things that they are really monitoring are MBs during 12:00AM-12:00PM time. So as I understood with their current policy the idea is that as long as you don't use ridiculous amounts of bandwidth during 12:00AM-12:00PM period, don't go from extended to standard speed very often and do not cross over 3GBs/5GBs (depending on the plan) limit "more than one-half of the days in [your] billing cycle" you're OK. Hope that answers some questions. P.s. ...and yes bandwidth meter on their website still works on my account. |

| reply to Idaho Ho The over-the-limit "rule" for the "more than one-half of the days in [your] billing cycle" is still fairly new. We'll just have to sit and wait to see if they REALLY are enforcing it.
So, who's gonna be the Guinea Pig? ...NOT IT! |

They only monitor from 12:00pm (noon) to 12:00am (midnight). They do not monitor any usage from 12:00am (midnight) to 12:00pm (noon). Just thought I'd clarify. -- ziggy zoggy ziggy zoggy oy oy oy |

| reply to Idaho Ho They ARE really enforcing it. The halving of bandwidth when you exceed a certain download daily limit is automatic.
As for disconnection of service, I doubt that they would do that.
Unfortunately, CableONE is not regulated by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. |

| I don't hit the threshold halving-cap all that often; it's the daily 3 gb cap I'm more worried about. I can't justify in upgrading my service either right now. I try to do my heaviest downloading near 11 pm or later. -- ISP: CableOne 5 mbit/500 kbit |

I'm probably going to be hitting over that 3 GB cap daily now that I've gotten addicted to a 90's tv show that's hard to find on DVD...
God forbid them disconnecting me. I really wish I had more broadband options around here, or at least less expensive cable plans. -- ISP: CableOne 5 mbit/500 kbit |

Now the same thing is happening on my page (At least, today.). I'm seeing a usage of 0 mb today and I'm pretty sure I used a bit more than that... -- ISP: CableOne 5 mbit/500 kbit |

yep it wasn't working on my account starting early AMs of September 6-th till some PM hours of September 8-th, such as I don't have a record for September 7-th at all.
"I do this every month for the last 2 years. Never had a letter or call." Same here. Even though I'm following their rules with that 1/2 billing period thing, I've got these numbers (10Mb connection).
7/1/2009 - 7/31/2009 285GB 8/1/2009 - 8/31/2009 320GB
Actually it is in the same range (230GB-340GB) as with my previous Internet provider (Verizon wireless mobile broadband) when they had unlimited plan. |

Yes lets get that clear. I also follow there rules as well. I think I go over the threshold , maybe 10 times a month. |
