is Demonoid going to be back? First there was a site under maintenance page, but now there is no link at all. Anyone know what is going on? |

It is down but it will be back up. I know some one that works there and they changed there message to down for maintenance, but it is because it is getting a make over, soon you will have to register like some of the others! I think this stinks to but it looks as if we will lose freebies from them soon! I don't like the fact that half of the torrent sites have fallen prey to shut down or change so more money can be made for those that already make to much. Instead of wagging war on torrents why don't they just lower there price to something realistic, every one wants to be rich but dose it haft to be that they make so much on each sale? One DVD cost to make is some thing like under 50 cents or some thing like that, but new release is avg. 25 dollars, I think if you are (by you I mean in the mix of said DVD or what ever else) so into helping others get your hand out of the cookie jar and take a realistic salary, actors make millions, directors make millions, even the dam camera man makes on avg. 210,000. I mean come on that is a job even a monkey can do, so why don't he/she make minimum wage! |

@Bradadams Based on your post you know nothing at all about demonoid.com. It is a private torrent site that requires you to be a member to use their site. Meaning, you have to register!!! If you really knew someone that was there... you would know that they are having major hardware issues on their servers due to power issues in their building circuits. Based on the news reports they have issues with harddrives and RAM. That building being eastern Europe because the servers not allowed to be hosted most other places.
Now you do have some points about the cost of DVDs and such. But this is a basicly free economy here in the US, if people pay the dollars then companies will continue to sell them for that cost. Plus you aren't paying for the DVD, you are paying for the right to use the content. That is a price that each consumer has to decide is right for them. If you don't like paying for new releases... wait for the princes to drop like the rest of us. |

Sir, we're down - in part - to what Got Toon said. There's a bit more work involved but we'll get there, fear ye not.
As for the infamous 'ratio enforcing' a lot of people seem to suggest, it's not that simple. We can track certain people who are nasty leeches and people who genuinely try to seed (upping for 72 hours for example, and only giving, say, 23mb out of a possible 700mb through no fault of their own). |

driving me crazy! Seem to get different answers from, no longer coming back CIRA got them, to really is a maintenance issue, to blocking out because they are being tailed so they are in the midst of moving "again".
like you said, we can't live without our demonoid! i have been sitting here trying to at least find someone who at least could shed some light on what happened.
if anyone knows of anything could ya post it out for us? it'd be greatly appreciated. the demons are getting restless!!! |

Really good searching interface and great commenting section. u can always find out if the torrent is good before u try. as far as ratios go, i have no bandwidth whatsoever, but if u just give them a few bucks a month via paypal your ratio is posted 1:1. sure miss those servers, as none of the others even compare... If a demonoid here finds one just as good, post the url here! |

As for any Demonoid detractors (sivran, et. al.) the real genius of the evolving bittorrent protocol is the use of encrypted, peer-to-peer, tracker extensions. The bulk of my transfers are still very active, even though the central tracker is intermittent, at best.

I've never had a fake from Demonoid.
Except for the latest uploads there are usually several comments (A/V) (slow/fast) (movie sucks/is good)-- I hate that (opinion).

Oh, I don't deny that Demonoid has its good points -- well, okay, maybe just one: its huge variety of stuff. I retain my account there pretty much for that one reason. I use it as a last resort due to the generally slow speeds, but I do use it.
I just don't think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread like some here. And I'm far from lost without it.

well, i can't access my Demonoid account here in Dubai neither and i spoke to some of the staff members on IRC but i think they don't know nothing them selves and they are acting as if it was really maintenance as they say. try to catch them on IRC guys here: irc.p2p-network.net

You guys are crying over Demonoid as if it was the last torrent site ever!! I'm a Demonoider for only a year but before that i was using other 15 sites and i was getting what i want. There is almost no movie that you can't find on one of these sites. think about the people who don't have a membership in Demonoid, they are a live!!
Anyways, there are fare better torrent side then Demonoid with a very high speed download like www.thelostbay.org (it's private site but if you go their irc channel you will get an invitation. it's irc.rizon.net and then look for TLB) or www.xtremespeeds.net and many other.
I don't want to seem as if i hate demonoid, no, i like the site, but i wont cry over it like a baby.  |
