| reply to Wikkedfin I just walked into Fry's in Willsonville Oregon and purchased mine off the shelf for $159.
I am a custom home technology integrator and regularly deploy home networks consisting of 50 or 60 nodes, and often subscribe to fiber connections providing up to 100Mb/s. THIS IS THE ONLY SOHO LEVEL ROUTER I HAVE FOUND SO FAR THAT CAN KEEP UP. The UI is lightning. Short of not being a VPN endpoint (like the JUST released ProSafe FVS318G...although it's a wired only router)...IT KICKS A$$!
PRO: It even wall mounts...which is great if you plan to house it in a structured wiring panel.
CON: STILL WAITING FOR SPEED MEETER IMPLEMENTATION FOR NON PPPoE AND PPPoA DSL CONNECTIONS. Netgear claims it will be provided in a later firmware release. |

| I am a Level II certified Control4 system designer, among other things, which lends to the high node count. I'm sure you are right that I'm full of crap considering your impressive credentials working for "nerds-on-call" or whatever...
Latest Project: 2 - ProSafe VPN routers (FVS114's - THEY SUCK!) 2 - Netgear 10/100/1000 SmartSwitches (layer II) 3 - ProSafe Access Points (WG102's and a WG302) 3 - iMacs and a Mac Mini 3 - Mac Laptops 2 - Apple TV's 2 - iPhone 3Gs' 1 - Apple Time Machine 1GB Backup 2 - Apple AirPort products (used as network printer adaptors) 2 - Networked Printers (native, no print server) 4 - C4 IP Based iPod interfaces 6 - C4 Home Automation Controllers and Source Hardware 6 - C4 In-Wall and Wireless interface touchscreen controls 1 - Global Cache' GC-100-18R 8 - Axis 200 series IP Cameras 1 - Speco IP Hybrid DVR 4 - Blu-Ray Players (ALL Samsung with NetFlix Streaming) 5 - Dish Network DVR sat receivers - all connected via IP ONLY
Oh ya... and one refrigerator, microwave, and wine-room environmental control unit.
So that would be 60...and there undoubtedly items I left off this list from memory. This is not an un-typical home for us...but if it's too hard to believe, don't strain yourself trying. I left commercial IT support for the smart-home and $50k+ home-theater biz...and have never looked back.

| reply to skibumstevo UPDATE: Firmware 1.0.4.35 released this month fixes the bug with the Traffic Meter... among other things. Works great...I've been metering traffic for about two days since installing the firmware and noticed no issues.

1 edit | reply to skibumstevo The Control 4 stuff connects using Wifi? Thats a recipe for problems right there.
You seem young and full of energy. That's great. If I can make a recommendation for the future.....lab test your wifi AP first before deploying them. I find it almost unconscionable that you would choose to deploy a brand new, untested consumer grade wifi router/AP into a customers home that is responsible for connecting 50-60 devices together.
Hope it goes well for ya! |

2 edits | Unfortunately, I think Netgear was a little unprepared for the initial demand for this thing.
I have seen a couple posts that say they are showing up at random Best Buys and Staples, but I checked the ones in my area and nothing.
I may have gotten lucky this morning as Frys.com listed them in stock and ready for same day shipping, so I ordered one. However, looking at the page now, it says that it is NOT available for shipping, only in store pickup.
So I dunno if I got one of the last ones or if it was a mistake that it was available for shipping, in the first place. I haven't gotten a back order notification and the order says in process. So I'll have to wait and see.
**EDIT** Well, apparently they did have them for a short time yesterday because mine was shipped overnight and I should be receiving it today. |

| What differences do you see between the DGL-4500 and the WNDR370? I currently have the DGL-4500 A2 with 1.15 Firmware. Is it worth selling and switching to the netgear? I run a PS3 Media server streaming HD movies and I need to best of the best. lol. |

| Well most obvious would be no more wireless errors, no more resetting the router every other day, my signal strength went from 60 something in my living room to 90. I had the dgl-4500 A2 with the newest firmware and it was a pile of junk. I was disappointed because the DGL-4300 I had before that was outstanding..... |
