What a horrible Broadband Service?

Hi All,

I recently upgraded from Streamyx 1Mbps to 4Mbps service. I was hoping for a BIG change, but unfortunately, all I can say is that the Service and Support from Streamyx Premier Division stinks. It is really really BAD.

Right now, my connection seems to be somewhat stable, but my speed is intermittent and Looooouuuuuusssssyh! I am only getting ~ 300 kbps and nothing more!

I have decided not to pay the bill until Steamyx gets their act together. I suggest that a load of us to do the same and put the pressure back on Streamyx. If we do not do this we are going to be spending a lot of time chatting and talking and not getting our money's worth.

From a disgruntled customer...

Cheers,
Ranjit

Well, one thing you have to understand that when you subscribe for a service, in this case 4mbps DSL, you're basically subscribing for a 4mbps downstream port speed.

That means your line is able to handle a maximum of up to 4mbps of bandwidth. You're only guaranteed 4mbps within Streamyx network (from your home's modem to the provider router, so basically it's the line speed). Anything out of that is shared by all subscribers.

When you do your online speed test, which website are you doing it from? Since you're in Malaysia, try to find a local Malaysia speedtest site to test for better results. If Streamyx has their own speedtest site, then that would give you the optimal results for your line. And remember when doing the speedtest, don't do anything else, for best results.

If your result is slow even in streamyx network, then that's something you need to check with the provider to see if any problem anywhere.
