Weird Internet Explorer...

Hi I thought maybe someone can help me.

My cousin recently got her computer formatted to a chinese windows XP. So it had some missing drivers that I tried downloading off the company's website however every time I enter an address bar it keeps directing me to my router page. I downloaded firefox on an external and installed it. I was able to access all the websites. However since most chinese sites require IE I was wondering if it can be fixed. I tried deleting everything and restoring the setting on IE to default and nothing.

thank you.

Makes little sense. Is there a Proxy involved here? Can she get to google in IE? If FF works, it sounds like she should re-install IE - something ain't right with her version.

Hmmmm....naybe you could try one of these Firefox extensions:

IE View : »https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/35

IE Tab : »https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

Both allow Firefox to view Internet Explorer sites in Firefox. I know I used IEView a lot when I had XP on my computer works great with Windows update. At least it might be a work around till you find out how to fix IE.

Also, does the following help any?:

IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > remove the checkmark in front of "Enable third party browser extensions" > OK then restart IE.

If that does not help re-enable third party browser extensions.

If it does help, you would have to track down the third party browser extension causing the problem.

BTW, what version of Internet Explorer is installed?
