Well unlike thousands of other websites in China, lightinthebox.com actually appears to really ship products. They also claim to accept credit cards and PayPal, but also have a Western Union logo:

»lightinthebox.com
Snapped 2009-08-18 23:37:37

They also appear in a Google sponsored adlink listing Google checkout as an option:

Unfortunately that appears to be where the good news ends. If you check reseller ratings, there are many complaints. Advertised name brand electronics are cheap knock offs, that often fail or never function as advertised:

See: »www.resellerratings.com/store/Li···_The_Box

In my opinion if you read the ratings it does not appear to be a worthwhile risk. Some buyers like you, liked the clothing they received, others had problems with the sizing. Very difficult to resolve issues like that. Generally, knock off electronics are rarely worth the price savings.

why are you suspicious after the fact? is there something about your order that isn't right? i guess shipping wont be an issue to your location for a knock-off brand tv.....

I ordered from them once, just a couple months ago. I was a bit skeptical once I realized the company was based in China, but my merchandise arrived without a problem.

Light In The Box=Retail Business run by Chinese Scam Artists!

On their website it was described that I would receive a Wholesale Price of 39.59 for (101) units of Compact Flash cards, yet when I talked with their representative named "Crystal", I was told that I would be receiving only 1 unit of this Compact Flash card. She mocks me, saying that this is already cheap. Excuse me? I can find one here in the US for half that price. Why would I locate a wholesale business to purchase for 2x the price? This is a major scam and I have requested for a refund, but they refused. The beauty about their site is this, everywhere you look, everything is written as wholesale. This is their description to me when I foolishly fell into their trap. Wholesale Price :
for (101) units : US$ 39.59. That's not it, it came out to $46.89 as the total, even though shipping was only $2.00

Buyers beware! This is a retailer, not a wholesale business that they claim. If you must throw away money, throw it here in the US, don't let those Chinese Scam artists get you!

It looks like you mis-read the ads and the copy text in the ads do show if you order 101 units, you get a reduced price but if you only order 1 unit, then you pay the sample price listed instead. Seems pretty clear to me. If you had properly order 101 units, then the total would have been $3,998.59 and you would have been eligible for free shipping.

That isn't a scam, you simple made a huge error thinking you could get a 101 units of a 4 GB Memory Card that is worth $30 or more per unit in cost at the ridiculous price of $39.59 total or $0.39 cents a piece for 101 units. Who's trying to scam who?

Another site wants $58.99 for the quantity of 1 of same exact product.

Well, it DOES say $39.59 in the column with the heading "Price per unit" for 101+ units.

That's pretty normal pricing for large volume sellers. Monoprice is a great company in my experience and they sell products with a similar bulk discount pricing structure.

I don't buy 10' network cables expecting to get 100 of them for $1.99. I'd expect to get each one of them for $1.99 if I ordered 100 of them for a total cost of $199.

Yeah...somehow I don't see it.
Where's the phone number and why are they using a generic American name and free webmail service instead of what they would get through the hosting? As well as just being registered only 6 months ago.

It looks like 68454842 See Profile is demonstrating a prime example of Rule #3 in action:

"Spammers are stupid."

Or perhaps it is Spinosa's Corollary: Spammers assume that everybody is more stupid than themselves.

How else do you explain such a post to a forum dedicated to stopping spam and scams?

Of course that WHOIS information is obviously fake: as someone who has lived in West Palm Beach, FL, there is no Spring field Rd. there, and the Zip Code is incorrect as well.

Aw hell, and I ordered from this company once!

The item arrived when it was supposed to, but whether this company is shady or not, I did run into a huge problem with ordering from a company so far away -- if it breaks and you have to ship it back to the company, you might be paying more to ship it than the thing is worth.

I think I'll avoid them in the future, if only for this reason.

Re: Light in the Box.com

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CHINESE COMPANY! I ordered an electronic device (a wireless video recorder/receiver) in July from them after one of their online "salespeople" assured me twice that it came with two cameras. It didn't, despite the fact a camera is shown in the instruction booklet that came with it. It's a useless device without the camera. I returned it to China in October, after trying in vain to get them to send the stupid camera! No such luck. No refund. No charge put back on my credit card. Just a huge run-around. I was told yesterday that I have to deal with PayPal. I NEVER EVEN PAID THEM via PayPal! They won't give me a phone number so I can talk to a real person. I'll never see my $142 again. KEEP YOUR MONEY and avoid the stress of dealing with LIGHTINTHEBOX.COM. SCAM and FRAUDULENT outfit. They've got their merchandise back so they can turn around and sell it to some other trusting shlep like me. BUY AMERICAN and save yourself the trouble. We have laws here against scams and frauds. If your money gets to China, you'll never see it again.

With a credit card you are protected. Why did you not do a chargeback?

When will people learn to always use a credit card (not a debit/credit card) when buying anything online.

Yes, i have made a purchase from them and they messed up
the order.
I bought two cameras that were supposed to be color but
weren't and a cable was missing.
they gave me the run around to fix the problem (and they say they inspect all orders to make sure people receive the right products! bs.
I'm still waiting for something i ordered three months ago
and i paid to have expedited delivery and insurance.

my opinion to everyone is if you have too much money
and want to get rid of some there are better ways of doing it than to give(throw)it away at Light In The Box.

Comment censoreship on lightinthebox.com

They would censor any comment that might put them in a bad light. They also refuse to answer any inconvenient question (like: what's the SAR value on their mobile phones?) I ordered a phone from them and I was pretty pleased with it actually, but they sent me a China type charger and no Europe socket adapter. I complained about that and they promised to send me an adapter in a few days. That never happened. They also blocked my comments on the product page, and that really annoyed me the most.
