Re: IMG 1.7 September (some news)

Honestly, if it wasn't for Charles, customer service would have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what happened..Kudos to him and good job for a fast turn around. Thank god for this forum.

Absolutely. He saved me an evening explaining to my wife that this is all worth it since we get software upgrades 3-weeks before anyone else... !

16:9 IMG is suposta be in 1.8 and the same motorola. The USB thing its talkin about is not for the STB, its for extended devices on the remote computer that is on your network. There will be no pluggin in a USB HDD anytime soon, tho it is deffinatly in the works. The next set box isnt going to be the Cisco, its going to be a Sci Atlanta.

Cisco acquired Scientific Atlanta in 2006. All new models since then carry the Cisco label.

Don't hold your breath for a true 16:9 UI (i.e. non-stretched) on the Motorola QIP6416.

So you mean to tell me that the Time Warner Cable 8300HDCs we have here are from 2006 at most? Wtf? That sucks.

I wonder if these are the people the work on the guides »www.rovicorp.com/

Guides they make

Ours: »www.rovicorp.com/products/servic···rightnav (unlike others, this has no Caller ID)

EDIT: Verizon is a customer of Rovi

I just hope the new software has guide data that includes the original air date of the show. I really miss that from Directv. With Fios it's so hard to tell if a show is new or not. Many times the "NEW" logo appears in the info for shows that are many years old and in syndication.

I'd have to think that Rovi and Verizon are involved on the phone end.

I say this because Rovi was Macrovision and they purchased Gemstar which Comcast has stake and a deal with to make their iGuide.

I would expect Verizon will stay far away from the guide part regarding TV.

1.7 when? (VHO-8). Can anyone post a list of implementation dates across the VHO's?

Does anyone have a complete list of 1.7 fixes and new features? Has it been discussed or is no one quite sure yet what it will offer?

The dates are a little bit different than what I have, maybe they changed, but the order is:
CA & TX
FL & Pittsburgh
NY/MA/RI
NNJ/PA
Harrisburg/Buffalo
MD/VA

Yay #3 for me. In Staten Island. About September 29th is good enough for me.

Interesting that they wouldn't do NYC and NNJ on the same day or even NY and Buffalo on the same day. Why is it that Verizon doesn't roll it out to everyone on the same day? Or do one test VHO and then everyone else a week later?

because old people call and says....

"HEY ITS DIFFRENT, things didnt change when I was on comcast!"

rather than tech support getting flooded with retarted stuff like that, split it up over awhile (I'm totaly guessing, BUT that would be another fine reason)

Work has been a little crazy so I'm a little out of the loop on what's going on with this but I received the 1.7 software several days ago and to be honest if it didn't say that it was 1.7 in the system information I would not know that anything changed. Am I missing something? Is there anything good or bad that I should be looking for?

So, just to review, the Pittsburgh area is getting the update 9/24 then? Just want to make sure so I know when to look for it. Thanks.
