Re: IMG 1.7 (IMG Updates and Discussion) Hi, I'm experiencing the same STB reboot loop problem (7100 box on IMG 1.7, VHO 4, Sony 40V3000 TV, using HDMI cable) and it began after the 1.7 update occurred. Others have suggested using component cable instead of HDMI, which I suppose could be OK if there's no video quality loss, but I feel like I'm not getting what I've paid for if HDMI doesn't work. Has anyone had luck reporting this to VZ? Would requesting a replacement box be worthwhile (analogous to cablecards being temperamental and you need to switch them out until you get a good one)? |

 | reply to nascar Replacing your STB will not fix the STB rebooting issue with HDMI. Only solution at this time is to switch to component until the next release. |

Make sure they know which model STBs are endless rebooting, and what model TV you have connected to them by HDMI when it occurs. -- Cut Up The Government's Credit Card - Repeal the 16th Amendment |

Make sure they know which model STBs are endless rebooting, and what model TV you have connected to them by HDMI when it occurs. Folks, initiated a support chat to discuss the reboot issues. The agent tried a more 'intrusive reboot' that would erase some settings, my recordings, etc. Figured it was worth a try, but alas did not solve the problem. The chat support agent is sending me a new box which admittedly is probably a waste, but might as well try, right?
Interestingly, whatever the chat support agent did, caused my box to lose access to everything except the local channels -- each channel gave me the 'not subscribed' message even things like USA, TNT, etc.
So, I called support this time to get my channels fixed. Interestingly, the agent mentioned they have a notice of some sort 'of customers having reboot/reset problems since IMG 1.7c was released' and the fix was basically to use component cables. So, Verizon may well already be aware of our problems. I found it surprising Verizon would still send a new box if they already were aware of issues and that it were software related not hardware.
Any way, the phone agent asked if I have component cables to which I said I do, but not a spare set. (My DVD player is component but I have no desire to switch cables every time I want to watch a DVD and call me cheap, I don't feel I should buy cables just to deal with a problem Verizon caused [though a set of component cables are dirt cheap from MonoPrice]). To that end, the agent said Verizon would send me component cables but would also send a new box any ways.
I am not holding my breath with the new box. The chat agent said it should arrive Wednesday, but since we are expecting some more snow here in Maryland, UPS may not deliver. I'll update once the new box arrives.
So... just an FYI. |

 | reply to nascar As previously mentioned, replacing your STB will not fix this problem. |

 | reply to JeepMatt Replacing the HDMI with component cables resolves the rebooting issue for me. Clearly, this is an HDMI issue with the new image 1.7 Hope it gets resolved soon. |
