1 edit | WoW Updater cannot find wow.exe?
A few minutes ago when I ran WoW, it downloaded some sort of update. Then an error message popped up:
"The file "WoW.exe" could not be found. If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support."
If I re-run WoW, it says "patch required", then runs the updater again, and the above message pops up again.
Wow.exe still exists, in the same directory it's always been in.
Anyone else seeing this?
(If I really have to reinstall the game plus 2 expansions plus 187 patches again, I think that's going to be the end of WoW for me!) |

Run as Administrator.
If that doesn't work, browse to your Warcraft directory and run WoW directly, also as administrator.
One of these tricks worked for me on Win7. |

| reply to SierraRob Move your patch files into the same folder as wow.exe and run the updater manually from there - FYI it's possible to run WoW on a PC without installing it for example from a USB drive ran into this problem when I was out of town on vacation using a different PC that way.
The problem is either the registry entry is missing or pointing to the wrong folder - which can be fixed if you have administrator access - I forget how exactly but I believe WoW comes with a utility that will fix the registry entry for you. |
