If you don't mind me being alittle nosey and conjuring up some discussion... Why don't LAN centers succeed or make a profit, in your opinion? Because they only offer people what they can easily do in their basements now. In order for something like that to be attractive it needs to have more. People that can afford to pay to sit and play games probably have an equal environment at home (with the abundance of software like Ventrilo now, you have the majority of the social aspects as well). It is a very small segment you are aiming for.
Now if you did something like mixing the competitive gaming with gambling against each other (local laws willing), you'd draw massive groups of competitors I'd assume. Make your money by taking a % of the pot, you just being the middle man -- making sure no cheating takes place. -- The History Channel rocks! ... you know it! |

I only think that LAN/gaming centers only can manage in areas which aren't as upscale. If people can't afford an HDTV/console or pc, they will be more likely to go to a lan center to enjoy it for only part of the time. If you have enough money to buy a good console or pc, why would you ever go to a lan/gaming center. |
