Yes things do need to be changed that even Vista Winblows will not auto do on its own, once configured for dialup default to start. Though it has gotten very good at recognizing a LAN/NET connection at PC init start up, with no efort... but once you limit it to dial up... you have to undo that. While it might recognise the connectio, it will still have many of the dialuop limitations efficientlcy wise, until reset to BB settings.
