default MTU for Frontier PPPoE

What is the default MTU for frontier. I recall it being 1492 but not sure.

Since Frontier uses PPPoE/PPPoA, the MTU you should use would be 1492. Ideally though, since Frontier also uses the ATM network alongside the PPPoE/PPPoA authentication system, the most ideal MTU would be 1488.

I ask because i did ping tests for packet fragmentation. For me the packets fragment if the MTU is above 1300. Though for online gaming like xbox live the MTU can't be below 1360. I was hoping to get rid of some lag I see once and a while. But if it needs to stay at 1492 or 1488 like you suggest I'll keep it there.

I for a matter of fact just had a buddy of mine over here running their Xbox 360 off of my Frontier connection. My router has the MTU set to 1488 and his Xbox 360 after I forwarded the ports it needed to the console had no problems with Xbox LIVE or in-game anyways. I am a PC gamer myself so obviously I'd like to keep my networks in tip top shape.
