Re: Opening up a LAN Center in the NOVA Area said by italiansmoke:said by danielk:The problem with LAN centers is the profit margins are so small that most are usually breaking even, and need stuff on the side to create additional income, which you seem to already have. If you don't mind me being alittle nosey and conjuring up some discussion... Why don't LAN centers succeed or make a profit, in your opinion? Because they only offer people what they can easily do in their basements now. In order for something like that to be attractive it needs to have more. People that can afford to pay to sit and play games probably have an equal environment at home (with the abundance of software like Ventrilo now, you have the majority of the social aspects as well). It is a very small segment you are aiming for.
Now if you did something like mixing the competitive gaming with gambling against each other (local laws willing), you'd draw massive groups of competitors I'd assume. Make your money by taking a % of the pot, you just being the middle man -- making sure no cheating takes place. -- The History Channel rocks! ... you know it! |
