Your line is on FastPath and looks good to go for higher speeds as well (same SNR and sync speed as mine but lower attenuation). Line Quality test looks good too.
@CMoore2004: Try mentioning Interleaved mode to the techs/reps on the phone. My local Frontier tech didn't know what I meant by FastPath/Fast Packet until I mentioned Interleaved, then he knew exactly what I was talking about. Back when Frontier was fixing my profile back when speed issues were taking place I had asked them about that to make sure they didn't take off Fast Packet mode from my line after they fixed the profile I was on. If that doesn't work, mention that you are a gamer and are looking for them to change a line mode to make your latency lower. -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |

| Thanks Smith. So what do I do with Frontier and getting Higher Speeds? I'm on the Residential 3Mbps now, and so I just call Frontier and say "I Want More Speed." LOL. Or is it just a matter of waiting for them to bring higher advertised bandwidth that I then see greater speeds? |

Frontier has a lot of businesses synced at 6Mbps/768kbps in my area as it is already for those who have a short enough line to get it, even those coming out of remotes and the network seems to hold up just fine throughout all parts of the day and night, thanks to the new fiber line that was brought in during the Winter. It was fine on the old fiber line, until the techs were swamped with work for two weeks hooking up a boatload of new people to DSL around December, that's when the CO ran out of bandwidth.
In my area, Frontier MAX which is what I have is 3Mbps/384kbps. At the moment there are no plans to offer higher speeds, but Frontier did install some new equipment into the office recently (for more DSL capacity and some more bandwidth which was installed during the Winter). Now, from what I've heard for them to start offering 10Mbps, they need to upgrade the DSLAMs and the remotes in my area which may happen sometime next year. If and when that does happen, the local Frontier tech did state that he would max out my line as high as it would go and I'd reply back to him to let him know how things hold up. I know that Frontier can already offer a maximum of 8Mbps/900kbps on Standard ADSL (if that's what the technology's max is) which is what my area uses at the moment, but when they bring in ADSL2 and ADSL2+ with higher bandwidth, they'll be able to boost speeds to what Rochester sees. But considering parts of my area are a bit rural, they may not roll that out to the remotes just yet leaving the people connected directly to the office to get those speeds first. -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |
