| Zip Code Something to note, their map goes by zip code. In some states, WV for instance, a zip code can cover a huge area. That doesn't mean that the whole area is covered by broadband. I noticed several areas that they had only 1 test for. (Including my own under/unserved zip) -- Fight Cancer! Join DSLR's Team Discovery |

| I hate when they go by the zip code because time warner cable said there is cable in my zip code. Guess if one person in the zipcode has some highspeed internet, everyone else has the availability to get high speed internet. So much bullshit going on these days. -- One day, High speed internet will be down my road! Willing to put DSLAM's or cable plants on my yard. Contact me AT&T or TWC to set up an appointment =] |

| How's the wireless project coming? How many folks in your area would be willing to get service if it was available? You might be able to do 20 Mbps symmetric over wireless with some of this new hot-shot tech |

iansltx join:2007-02-19 Golden, CO kudos:2 | If there are enough potential subscribers in your area (probably not; the number would be around 70) you could grab a 100 Mbit connection from Cogent, set up your wireless gear and have wireless internet that's as fast as cable... |

1 edit | I would of gone with wireless but since I got no line of sight, it would be way to much work and I really dont know much about wireless so Id rather wait for that broadband stimulus plan if that does anything at all for me. Started poking AT&T with a stick using the BBB. That seemed like it failed horribly so now time to use a bigger stick, The FCC. Im not gona give up without a fight after what they done to me. -- One day, High speed internet will be down my road! Willing to put DSLAM's or cable plants on my yard. bmialonePremium join:2009-08-15 Anchorage, AK 1 edit | reply to Duramax08 I live in Alaska and both broadband cable and Clearwire wireless are horrible compared to the other two states I lived in. Neither provide what they claim, both slow way down and become clogged in the evenings and are slow as mud on the weekends. Clearwire is so slow we can't even stream YouTube videos a lot of the time, it grinds to a halt, drops the connection, and it is often slower than the dial-up we used 15 years ago.
We can quibble over the numbers in the report, but the USA has fallen way behind, and Alaska is like going back in time. |
