Do they offer a link that allows an end user to revert to the old-style inbox?
I'm guessing that the new "more graphical" (?) layout is due (at least in part) to a desire to shove more ads in front of their end users' eyeballs? [shrugs] |

I have to agree with you on this. Ebay also screwed up their pages one is small the next page is big and have to scroll back and forth on it. Then Amazon, I have to go to a bigger resolution to see the complete page scrolling doesn't help. I can't see tiny print so good anymore, so I try to avoid Amazon at all cost.
Never understood why these type of places don't leave good enough alone. Then to top it off they actually pay someone to screw things up and are happy about it. |

Actually, if anything there's actually less space for ads (ok, maybe there's more, maybe the ad spaces have just been shuffled around a bit, maybe there really is less--with privoxy, I don't see them anyway!) on the latest one, which is apparently designed to mimic Outlook Express/Thunderbird/Ye Olde Mailnews.
Here's an image of the new (with link back to classic highlighted):
 The New
That arrow under the mouse cursor has a tooltip saying "hide advertisement." However at the first screen you go to when you log in, there doesn't seem to be a reserved space for ads as with the old one.
And the old, where I've highlighted the very minor cosmetic changes since my last login (which was probably a few months ago). This interface has been around with few changes for a very long time:
 The Old
Actually, I kinda like the new. Surprisingly, it works in SeaMonkey, which is a definite and welcome change from every time Yahoo's tried to intro a new interface. -- In dadkins' memory, Think outside the Fox... |

I haven't really seen either one. I always turn off all the graphics before looking at Yahoo anyway. I've still got the old style as of now, but not saying how long it will last. Found out I could read a message by using reply, so will not let noscript allow yimg, either. I get more of it on the laptop I use. Yahoo seems to see that as mobile and keeps trying to send the page for smartphones or something. Carpetshark |

To me it seems Yahoo is so desperate to right their ship that they keep screwing around with their website trying to make some kind of impact and all they seem to do is piss users off.
I use the free Yahoo email everyday. I use an email of theirs for my stock trading, one for my horse playing and more emails for online shopping account and even one or two for personal use. And maybe it is just me or it is because I have flashed disabled, but it seems every so often they move the Log Out button from the top right of the page to the top left. I like automatically go to the top right to Log Out and now then moved it once again to the top left...Probably in a couple of weeks they'll screw around again and move it back to the top right. Right when my mouse gets use to going to the top left.
But to me, their free email is good for what I use it for, I don't receive any spam and their Finance section is still one of the best around so I put up with all their other screw-ups. |
