Lets say you have this app on the iPhone and place a call using the app and home wifi, then if another person in the house tries to use the phone connected to the Vonage ATA what will happen? |

Also think about the "future" - using something like the 3Gunrestrictor - this all should work fine outside your wifi |

| COOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
All setup now - its 7AM so I cant try calling anyone yet...
As far as I can tell - this works on BOTH WIFI and Cellular - if I read the info correctly, they hit you for carrier minutes when on cellular - I guess thats how they got it approved.
It does not look like you can receive calls on your vonage mobile - I will have to do some tinkering with this to see....
My Vonage plan gives me unlimited to 60 countries - this is awsome - I can use my iphone for basically FREE international calling!!! |

It looks like this does NOT tie to my existing Vonage plan. If I am reading this correctly it is a pay per call - separate from my Vonage account....
Update 1:
Just made a few calls from my Vonage iphone. Looked in the call log (on the iphone app) and see all the calls were free. I wonder if this is because it is linked to my home vonage account - I do hope so......
When you bring the app up it nags you to add minutes to the pre-paid pool - I hope I can find a way to disable that.
Caller ID on the dialed number works!!
Update 2:
On the phone now with Vonage customer service...
1) domestic US, Canada and PR are FREE - they link to your existing Vonage account. International calls (according to the rep) are billed at the Vonage rate - but SHE WAS not sure of this..... I dont know anyone overseas so I cant try this... |

How about just calling the Eiffel Tower information line: 011-33-1-44-11-23-23 ? I just read on the Vonage press release that the world plan would be incorporated by the end of the year - imagine that - free international calls from my iphone

| reply to dellsweig Cool
I just tried to call my Home vonage number and it works - even though you assigned the same number to the iPhone app.
Also - calls coming into your registered Vonage number continue to ring through even if you are talking on the iPhone app using the same number. |

| I just downloaded and installed the similar app for the blackberry. I am trying to figure out how this works. I have an Australian mobile phone with Vodafone. I put in my US Vonage phone number for the Vonage mobile account. So now, does this allow me to call the US, Canada, etc. from my mobile phone free of charge? |

1 edit | reply to dellsweig I just jailbroke my iPhone with blackra1n ( »www.blackra1n.com) and installed 3gunrestrictor.
I can confirm that I can make FREE VOIP Vonage calls from my iPhone using the vonage app (and my home vonage account) from either WiFi or while on the 3G or EDGE ATT network
No minutes show up in my ATT account as being used and the free calls show up in my Vonage log
Gotta love this - a nice way to put it to ATT too |

| Here is an update
I have been using the Vonage iPhone App now for about a month on my jailbroken iPhone.
I use 3GUnrestrictor so ALL my vonage calls are pure VoIP.
I can verify that of the 1250 minutes of Vonage calls I made from my iPhone to domestic US numbers - NO MINUTES were charged to my ATT Wireless number.
Now if I could figure out a way to get free incoming....... |

join:2008-01-19 | reply to dellsweig That's good news. The website says that its only for international calls. I wonder if its a glitch or something. |
