2 edits | Nothing really changes Did anyone REALLY believe that a change in administration would result in Washington, D.C. politics and bureaucracy fundamentally changing the way business is done.
Sure there will be minor differences and more emphasis placed on certain policies than on other policies. But as long as the voters keep returning incumbents to office year after year and decade after decade, they will expend more effort on feathering their own nests than on doing what the voters want.
And the entrenched bureaucrats ride thru administration changes with nary a worry that things will change for them. Sometimes I think that civil service rules cause way more problems than they cure. If we didn't have civil service rules, at least when the administration changed, the bureaucrats would be swapped out too. That doesn't happen anymore. A few faces change at the top, but those really running our lives continue on as if nothing has changed.
So, let's bring back patronage jobs if we want to see change actually done. -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page |
