Future Mergers

I predict that, despite this ruling, Comcast will find huge difficulty in getting future mergers approved..

I somewhat agree. Mergers still must pass muster at the Justice Dept, which has no tie-in to FCC rules. And the Justice Dept under the current administration will be less likely to approve big mergers. However, Comcast could still get easy approval to suck up small systems adjacent to their existing franchises without worrying the Justice Dept. And now the FCC won't have the backing to stop them.

I'll believe this government denying a massive mega-merger when I see it.

They're MSOs, they don't compete with each other and the CenturyLink merger was approved. So yes, I think anything Comcast wants to do in that arena they'll do. Unless the gov't is violently anti-cable.

IMHO that's exactly what Comcast wants. With the possible exception of Cablevision I can't think of any other major cable companies that Comcast would want to swallow whole. Why would they want all of Time Warner Cable and they definitely don't want all of Charter.
