Re: My Prediction

said by iansltx:

Comcast will now buy Charter and spin off Charter's more rural assets.

Then they'll buy Time Warner Cable and possibly spin off TWC's more rural assets (like that hasn't happened already with Windjammer).

They *might* even buy Cox, though that company seems to be a bit of a loner.

The upside: by the end of 2010 anyone originally Comcast or bought by them will have 50/10 internet available.

The downside: Comcast will have a lot of lobbying weight and can tell programmers what to do. Blessing and a curse due to the fact that Comcast is still first and foremost a cable company.

What do y'all think?
I seriously doubt CC would try to buy TW...

Why not? Their business footprints are similar in scope, and Comcast has traded areas with them a time or two, presumably to get aorund the 30% cap while solidifying footprints.

I believe they swapped areas because they were forced too.

No, it just made sense. Why would TWC want a network in the middle of a Comcast area or even that for Comcast. It made prefect business since to swap those areas. Cleveland Ohio was one of those markets. They swapped the small footprint with TWC and TWC gave them one of their markets. TWC still ended up with more areas though in that deal.

Again, I believe they were forced to swap certain areas due to CC and TW offering to purchase, I forgot which company. It was part of the deal to allow them to purchase said company together if I remember right.

nobody was forced. It was just a smart business move. Why would Comcast want to offer services in one signal area of the state when TWC has the rest? it doesn't make sense.

they purchased Adelphia together with TWC picking up most of the areas.

Yes, they were forced, if they hadn't, they would not have been allowed to purchase Adelphia together.

forced by who? You only say you believe. Show proof? there was nothing that was published nor stated that they were forced.

They were allowed to purchase adelphia because NOBODY else wanted the horrible network and problems they faced.
