Is there a page that lists all the subscription types?
Do they have like a 3 day pass or something?

| They used to have seven day free trials but that's for on line listening only.
Your best option is a prepaid subscription. I'm not sure how those work as I am long-term subscriber. I think the minimum is one month for around $13.00.
No matter what, you will need a radio for the car. Are you going to borrow/buy one?
Give it a try for a month or so. You will probably end up liking it (or is that what you're trying to avoid? )

| I've got one built into my car, it works as I had a 3 month subscription when I bought the car. That has since expired.
I'm driving for 6-7 hours straight and would have liked to listen to it for a weekend (or even a week) but it looks like it's a no-go. -- My BLOG! Black Friday Ads |

I used XMSCION03 for 3 free months about 1 year ago. Then I used the ZWINBACK promo over the phone to get one year at $77. I got it just for driving from Lousiana to Indiana a couple times a year, but I have the xm inno (cost about $80) which is a portable xm radio and now I use it when I go running since St. John's, NL has a xm fm repeater.
On fatwallet someone posted they still got the $77 a year deal on Aug 6, 2009.
Several posts in fatwallet said they got 5 months for $19.99 in July. You should call and ask for that deal.

| Just call and ask for a 3 month free trial.
This was posted in another forum: "august 21 2009 for new radio & new serrvice, never had before i called 800-347-0060 and hit option 2, they said no 3 month free trial available. i hung up and called same phone # and used option 1, a very nice lady hooked me up with 3 months free trial, without any problems at all." -- Democrats are not Socialists any more than Republicans are. |

What information do they ask for when you sign up?
I ask because it's never the signing up for a so-called "free trial" that's the hard part: it's trying to cancel the damn thing if you decide you don't want it.
If credit card info is something they ask for, I'd try to give them one of those one-time CC numbers in case there were any problems later on. -- Damascus, Aurens.

1 edit | reply to Gbcue said by Gbcue :way2evil would rather have me spend $100 on an iPod than $20 for XM? Do you have a generic MP3 player of some kind?
I ask because archive.org has a metric diaperload of OTR programs. All for free. If all you're trying to do is stave off boredom/stay awake for three days of driving, you can download some of those programs for when you're behind the wheel.
Some of the stories haven't stood the test of time too well, but the really good ones have a way of transcending time. Two of my own picks would be The Black Shawl and Dead Ernest. Both are episodes of the Old Time Radio program Suspense. If you like Vincent Price, he did a good story called Three Skeleton Key in that same series.
Anyway, those are just some suggestions. You can check them out online (among many, many others) and see if you like them. [shrugs] -- Damascus, Aurens.

| Now seriously: For the cost of setting you up and the amount of work that the agents have to put forth, you think selling the service for just 3 days makes sense? It certainly doesn't make business sense.
Guy, let's find some real complaints, this complaint does not hold water IMHO. Anyways, my best wishes you get some sort of deal to make you happy. -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. No wonder they're tanking. If you already have a unactivated SXM radio, you can go on-line and activate that radio, without any phone CSR, but, all they are offering is a 3 month plan for $38.83 for that 3 months, after that you could always cancel it, just take the credit card out (the one you used and put in a invaild one that they cannot use), so they cannot charge you again, but, before you do this, make sure you cancel the subscription before it expires, are they will re-charge your credit card again for an additional 3 months -- AMD Phenom X3 8400 Triple-Core 2.1 GHz*6 GB* RAM*Windows Vista Ultimate(64-bit)SP2 |
