Embarq DSL + AT&T 2Wire Router

I'm having difficulty setting up my 2Wire wireless router to work with my Embarq DSL. Having read some of the old posts here, I successfully bridged my 660 so that the Internet comes through the 660, then to the 2Wire, and then to the computer. This works fine for ordinary Internet and the wireless Internet seems to work okay, although it is a bit slow.

However, I cannot manage to access the configuration for my router or the 660 modem anymore. None of the old ip addresses work, such as 192.168.1.254, nor any of the other addresses, like localhost, localport, att.router, etc., connect to the 2wire. And 192.168.2.1, which used to connect to the 660 modem, doesn't work either.

So I looked up the ip address and I got some monstrosity like 138.210.etc., but couldn't find a way to access them through this address either.

I've also tried accessing it with Windows XP firewall turned off, to no avail.

Does anyone have any advice?

You need to be physically connected to the bridge segment and be on the same subnet as the bridge to communicate with the bridge.

The router probably needs you to be on its lan in the same subnet.

If the bridge is no longer in the same subnet as the wan of the router (which it isnt) You cannot reach it from the LAN of the router. You'll need to plug directly in to the bridge and be on the correct subnet.

Hope that helps.

I have been kind of confused by this post - if you have a 2wire, why are you connecting it to a modem? Maybe this is a different 2wire than what i'm thinking of but the 2wire's i've seen are a modem and wireless gateway built in to one..

If thats the case, you just need to modify the 2wire's settings to use Embarq's DSL network and you wouldn't connect the 660 at all.
