...even though I don't "surf" the newsgroups anymore these days unless it's a Google Groups search. I haven't posted to a Usenet group in ages. I hang out in website forums instead these days. I'd have to say that BBR has sort of replaced Usenet as far as my usage goes .
Most of my usage nowadays is searches on Google Groups for help with stuff I'm working on at work (Powerbuilder, Sybase, Java, etc.)
I use Usenet all of the time. I know there is a lot of warez and porn, but don't forget there are also 3000 plus Microsoft groups where a lot of techies help each other. Adobe also has 46 active groups and Linux has 425.
I like it because good Usenet software has a search capability so finding help about something like Excel compound interest for example is a breeze.
