The $99 deal is only available to new subscribers? That's a shame, I want to switch my voice and Internet to Metrocast but they say that since I am an existing TV customer I am not entitled to that deal. I don't care if the $99 is only good for one year, I'm willing to give them my money and tell AT&T off. Don't Comcast and Cox customers get the $99 deal if they are upgrading from TV to all three? |

That is what happens when a company has a monopoly. |

@comcast.net | reply to flush75 This sucks, I keep reading bad things about them, and I may be moving to St. Mary's Maryland, and from I understand they're the only provider available. How can comcast be better than anyone?! |

| reply to poplistic By and large I am very happy with the TV service. In Norwich I was dead set against going with Comcast. Their local channel reception was really bad, their channel lineup made no sense and I just got a bad vibe from them. I came to Waterford and have been real happy with MC service. We have Internet at our office and it's great, very reliable. I just don't understand this policy. |

Here in CT Metrocast is just fine. That's prolly because Metrocast purchased a really nicely setup rather smallish Cable business.
In other states, well, all bets are off... you really need to be specific when asking about the experience of others. Specifically ask about which state and city they are in before you form an opinion about Metrocast's service... |

Competition always equals better price, service for the consumer. When there is no competition there is no need to compete. |

2 edits | reply to flush75 Heck, add up the fees, add-on costs, taxes. This isn't a deal anyway... by the time you add in all their fees (modem, phone converter, cable-box, DVR, etc, etc) and the additional costs for the packages you want on the cable side (DVR, cablecard, box), you're back over $125-130/month. And that is before the state adds its share.
As I and others have observed in the past, there are deals to be had when you go de-bundled, picking the best value with MC competitors.
Cheap 6MB DSL and cheap POTS (with google voice!) + the MC cable monopoly work for us. Now if Uverse comes out locally, we might see MC come up with some *real* packages... |

join:2008-10-30 Waterford, CT | FYI, I just received an ad in the mail for the $89.95, 1.5meg VIP pkg. I called and they told me that they will honor the price to those existing customers that received the flyer. Good by AT&T. Finally. |
