The word broadband unfortunately has taken on the definition of "speed" in regards to a connection to the Internet. "Speed" doesn't change much as it will be the speed of electrons over copper, light through plastic, and/or the switching mechanism that connects everything. We should more correctly define the "throughput" of a connection.
