i think its funny

If apple has the best device how come there are so many misses

1 no mms
2 no multitasking
3 no tethering
4 no removable battery (umm it is a cell phone)
5 no expandable memory
6 prohibitory app approval process
7 carrier limitation can only buy with at&t
8 can't buy insurance
9 no push email
10 limited corporate email support not up to par with bb and wm

Wow, that's a long list considering the article was about AT&T. MMS has been availabe everywhere else in the world except for the US. Did you actually read it or just come to bitch about Apple?

1-AT&T issue
2-Apple issue
3-AT&T issue
4-Apple issue
5-Apple issue
6-Apple issue
7-Apple issue
8-You can buy AppleCare which is like insurance
9-Email works fine for me with both Yahoo and MS Exchange. I actually get notifications on my iPhone faster than Outlook receives them.
10-BB is easy if you have BES, if not it is a pain. All I had to know for Exchange was my username and password, same with Yahoo so it's pretty damned simple.

I dont know any rational person who can claim that apple has the "best" device.

What they do have is the best marketed device and a very loyal cult like following.

Every device has strong points and weak points. For me it's one of the best smartphones I have used so far.

3G service in Utah is bad...more like 1G.

Speeds are not where they need to be...

Somebody better tell my iPhone that it's not supposed to have push mail or full corporate email support, because mine has it.

Have you actually worked with Exchange Activesync? I'm guessing not if you're making the claim that the corporate email support is "not up to par with bb and wm". It is, in fact, exactly like wm because it uses the exact same technology. I can sync/push everything and remotely wipe devices, etc.

Why is it that the iPhone bashers seem to know very little in the way of facts about the device?

I'm curious to know of the iPhone users that are actual mac/Apple users as well.. I'm guessing MANY of the iPhone users are Windows users.

With that said, anyone that knows about apple and how they work, apple likes to have their stuff 'work'... and so far, it does.. unlike Windows/PC.

There's a reason why apple is protective of their stuff... if they weren't, then apple would just be another electronic device on-par with the rest of the sporadic-working mobile and computing world.

I have both PC and apple stuff and by far am happier with apple.

To this date, and with all it's faults, the iPhone is still BY FAR the best mobile phone/mobile computing device on the market as far as capabilities..

And what does that have to do with what trowski just said?

Sounds more like a network problem and not a hardware problem.

... becuase people around here seem to have diarrhea of the fingers and are in a hurry to get their "opinions" out which usually don't lead to anything factual, rather, emotions.

I have never owned a Mac. The only other Apple product i owned was a Touch. I have a Dell PC at home and a Dell laptop for work.

Yeah, I think you're right.

The iPhone certainly has it's shortcomings, but it seems like the biggest bashers are the ones who have obviously never used one before.

I really like my iPhone, shortcomings and all, and that's after using Blackberrys, HTC's, and the like. Really, they all have shortcomings, it's just a matter of which ones you can deal with compared to the features you gain.

My feeling is that if you're going to bash the iPhone, fine, but at least know what you're talking about when you do!

As a person who also straddles both sides of the fence, I agree with your statements. I use Windows at work and at client site. Most of my infrastructure at home (I have several servers on a home network) are Windows-based; I'm starting to play around a little with Linux (Ubuntu) on one of them.

But my personal laptop-- the computer I use the most, and would miss the most-- is a MacBook Pro. I initially got it because I really liked many of the hardware features. After using it for a very short period of time, I came to the same conclusion you have: I prefer Apple because it "just works". The OS may be more restrictive, and you might not be able to skin everything in the world without using third party software. The hardware might be a little more expensive. But to have everything work well together without any major issues is worth the trade offs, at least to me.

I use my iPhone on a daily basis as well. And while I would prefer a less restrictive approval process that allows stuff like Google Voice and VoIP-over-3G apps into the App Store, overall I would say that I'm satisfied with my iPhone experience. The OS is nice and easy to use, Mobile Safari is really good, and overall the phone seems like a fairly stable platform. Some day I really hope I can say the same about AT&T's network across the entire country.

it was a quick reply, I did not intend on focusing my post on a single post.

Hope that helps

I beg to differ. Active Synch works better to my Exchange 2007 better than my Blackberry does
