Web surfing not as impressive as a 10 meg cable connection with 24 ms pings but the Verizon Wireless network does a good job most of the time around the KC area. Most people coming from dial-up or Satellite service are very happy to switch. |

Not a bad job compared to the 14.4 I got when the phone line would work. Out in the county they could careless about and any speed you got. Call in and if they could hear you over the static they would say it's working. |

This speed used to be very rare for me. I wonder if the towers around here are having there connections upgraded in prep for LTE. |

| reply to compuguybna Above is a normal test for me, at this time of day, 1:30 PM CST, in the burgs south side of KC. When the school kids get home it will drop to around 1.5Mb/s sometimes, lowest I have seen is around 1Mb/s. Today Speedtest.net thinks my HA is in Colorado, most of the time it shows up as Wichita. |

| compuguybna, Yes, UM175. At this location 3.5 miles to tower, LOS with trees, Grid antenna on 1.9Ghz -62 RSSI Verizon has a great 3G network around the Kansas City area. Lowest speed tests I have ever seen are around 1 Mb/s.
In the this same area Sprint has some towers that are very overloaded. I have seen speeds in the 100 to 150 Kb/s range during many hours of the day and at the best 300 Kb/s. Apparently Sprint is not in any rush to upgrade towers in their own back yard, this has been going on for over three years. Also I see problems with the T-Mobile network, weak signal coverage and less than expected speeds. LTE and WiMax is on the way, sometime, for some people. |

| reply to compuguybna compuguybna, Hope for better backhaul at 3G and 4G cell towers is on the way using new fiber connections, especially for Verizon. Getting your T1 feed tower replaced with fiber would make your speed tests much better. I just found this interesting article about fiber backhaul posted at Telephonyonline: »telephonyonline.com/mobile-apps/···ul-1109/ |
