| What I think they MAY do... Is they had interest with Peppers in the offseason but the panthers asking price was too much... Now they have 2 first rounders theirs(which will probably be a 25-32 draft choice) and the Raiders(which will be a top 10 pick easy)... So instead of trading lets say seymour for peppers(and keeping their late pick) they trade Seymour to the Raiders get a top 10 pick and now trade their pick(their original pick) to the Panthers and get Peppers...
Not to mention Seymour is a FA after this year... So they could get Peppers, get seymour back for next year and have a top 10 pick! If this happens this organization are the Gods of the NFL -- "I done wrassled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale, only Last week I murdered a rock, Injured a stone, hospitalized a brick, I'm so mean I make medicine sick!!"-Ali |

| reply to Eagles LoveR Wow, this is really surprising... Harrison, Bruschi retiring and now Seymour getting traded all in the same year. I know Seymour has had some disappointing years lately but I think with them switching to more 4-3 he would really have a chance to rush the QB this year. I guess Belichick has a lot of faith in the new guys, with all this veteran leadership leaving.
Richard Seymour has had some great years here, I'm really sorry to see him go. It sucks for him he has to go from New England to Oakland, what a shitty place for a guy who has been on a winning team his whole career to have to go.
On the bright side Oakland should have a great first round pick next year. -- Amateurs study tactics. Professionals study logistics. |

| reply to Eagles LoveR Seymour was going to have to be re-signed after this season and would've wanted more than the Patriots could afford to pay him. So they decided to get something for him now.
And they fleeced the Raiders.
Seymour's good but not what he used to be. How many years has Al Davis been insane now? -- if I looking for frog |

| Seymour is a really good player but not worth a first rounder and especially a top 5-10 pick which the Raiders will probably end up getting cause they stink... IMO if you trade for a DE trade for a top 3 end in Peppers -- "I done wrassled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale, only Last week I murdered a rock, Injured a stone, hospitalized a brick, I'm so mean I make medicine sick!!"-Ali |

| reply to Eagles LoveR I think what went in to the decision from both sides is the big prices defensive ends command nowadays. Everybody knew it was either going to be Richard Seymour or Vince Wilfork that would get a big payday from the Patriots next year, they weren't going to keep them both.
Vince is younger and Seymour has been injury prone lately resulting in disappointing years. There's a reason the Raiders are where they are because they make these silly deals. The Patriots are smart and they are always looking to the future, they are slightly worse than they were a few days ago but this trade will payoff big in the long run. -- Amateurs study tactics.
