Before and during my packet/NOS days, I also ran a BBS (1987-1997) called Lunatic Haven.

I joined DSLR in 2002 when I moved to a location where I thought DSL was a distinct possibility, also an area that didn't have 2-way cable internet. As it happened no DSL, even though other people in the same building could....just a matter of who in the building was line share or not. I had moved from an area with 2-way cable internet....

Then I moved in 2006, had trouble getting Cox...until I posted on here that I was having trouble...then Cox showed up and got me connected. Though I'm running both Cox HSI and DSL in my home....

My background is in engineering (mechanical, electrical and electronics) and a career in controls systems (production and environmental) and communications.

A computer geek since a teenager, about 30 years ago, and have been a maven ever since. Companies I've worked for have leaned on me for IT and PC support, deployment and development. I've always built my own PCs.

Been around the DC Beltway (literally) with different providers of the years: Jones, Comcast HSI & analog TV, and currently using Cox HSI, analog and DTV services. No FiOS, yet.

My name is Rob. I worked as a public school teacher for 35 years in a little town in CT, where I taught Math, Science, English, and U.S. History at various grade levels. I am currently (happily) retired and enjoying life in New England with my wife.

I discovered DSLR in the late 90's and found the community to be helpful and very knowledgeable. I joined in 2001 and make a daily stop here to read through about a dozen different forums.

My interests are varied and keep me busy. I have studied martial arts (Aikido) for 12 years, played soccer in the local leagues for the past 40 years, hiked and biked for as long as I can remember, been an active ham radio operator since the early '70s and enjoy playing COD4 and MW2 online when time allows. I have an avid interest in electronics and build my own computers and even some of my ham radio transmitters.

I moved from dial-up and subscribed to @home when it became available back in 2000 and stayed with them when Cox bought the franchise. Eventually, I ended up bundling my internet/phone/television services with Cox and have been very pleased with all three.

I find the diversity of the people here at DSLR to be amazing. I can find answers to pretty much anything I am interested in from the subscribers here. It's a nice place to browse as I enjoy my second cup of coffee in the morning!

I work for an EDA software company based out of the SF Bay Area, although we have a sales office here (Chandler, AZ)

BSEE / IC designer My day job is an Apps Engineer supporting the large tech firms in the valley who use our software.
(Intel, Freescale, Gen. Dynamics and others)

Spend lots of time onsite, but also work out of a home office...

We moved to Cox HSI when Qwest unceremoniously dumped their VDSL / Choice TV and Online in our neighborhood
(I really did like that service BTW good value for the money, but that is what killed it I suppose?)

Former sys-admin / cad tools support person in my past life, many years ago at Honeywell here in the valley.

My name is Dustin and I have been around DSLR "officially" for 9 years now. I actually found the site in February of 2000 but didn't come back and register until October of that year. I found the site after my dad ditched Charter one-way cable in St. Louis and went with DSL from southwestern bell.

I used to be an active member here on DSLR, but after my dad passed away (age 50) of cancer in 2003, I really stopped being a frequest user here and lost contact with all the friends I had made along the way.

That doesn't mean I don't love dslr without a passion, just means that it hurt too much to come back here. I was a contributing member to TD (team discovery) for awhile, even had my own server farm at work crunching away at data, about 13-14 systems. I bet you if I had the computers we have today, I could have done more damage. Back then we had Pentium 866MHz computers. They considered these new systems where I had worked. Apparently they had been in a warehouse for a year before I was able to install them for the company I had been working for.

I a 58 year young, gamer, that this place has helped me get my speed what I need, as once again the tweak test did with Cox, My speed was already excellent but its went from 22MB DL to 25MB-27MB- and upload from 4.5 to 5.6 average after tweak test..

Now with Cox Bundle, am a real happy camper..For I am saving money..I am a disabled womon in my late 50's and Deaf person, who's got so much help here..

I did post in the Cox forum, to ask how to get the Earthlink under my name to say Cox now instead Of Earthlink and no-one answered me, could someone here answer me.???

.I tried FAQ and could not find the answer I am dyslexic, so I not sure where to look..could someone give me a hand please...

I'm 38 and have been living in Louisiana my whole life basically. I have been living in the Capitol City for over 5 years now and I really like it. I work in the exciting world of State Government and I am married and I have a daughter who is almost 2 years old.

I am pretty boring - I like to watch movies and sports and hang out with my wife and daughter mostly. I suffer from an eye condition known as RP (short for Retinitus Pigmentosa) that causes me to lose my sight little by little peripherally. I tend to use a cane when I am out and about so I don't run into stuff or over people but it's more for convenience and safety since I still have some usable vision. The only thing I am bitter about with my eye condition is not being able to drive. :)

Given the forum I am posting in I guess I should mention that I have been with COX for many, many, years now and have been, for the most part, extremely satisfied with them. I subscribe to just basic cable and have the Preferred Internet package.

my name is quinn (as you could glean from my profile).
i'm a network engineer, working mostly with cisco gears in the enterprise. i specialize in network security and wireless, though i can do enough damage in voice to get something working. i've been playing with cisco gear for the better part of 7 years. i have a few certs to show for it and a lot of experience on what to do and what not to do.
i am also completing my bsee in electrical engineering; working primarily with microwaves, though i have some experience with fiber optics and feedback control systems. my experience with microwaves has taught me *a lot* about how the coaxial part of the hfc network functions, theoretically. my networking deployment experience has taught me a lot about once the network hits fiber. its a varied background, but i enjoy doing what i do.

i actually joined dslr on a whim - mostly for the cisco forum. i joined the cox forum knowing *nothing* about what is good and bad. i've picked up, learned, and researched what i could in order to help everyone out. i guess thats my main goal - help.
