DNS redirection advertising, which replaces the traditional 404 with an ad-laden search portal in order to generate more ad revenue for the carrier. Huh? 404 is the error code a web server will return if a requested page cannot be found. In order to get a 404, the DNS has to be resolving.
If there is no DNS there is a different error that has nothing to do with the aforementioned.
What this does is, instead of having dns return that the host could not be resolved, it will instead resolve to the carrier's catch-all advertising portal. |
