| What size image for 16x20 poster?
I used Shape Collage to make a collage of our Disney World vacation photos in the shape of Mickey Mouse. I figured that I would have WinkFlash print it poster-sized and hang it up. The fact that WinkFlash is currently running a 40% off sale on posters just makes it important that I get this done quickly.
The original collage image is 11753 x 14737 and is 19.2MB. I plan on padding some of the image and adding some text to it, but my image editor is choking on the image's size.
I'd get a 16 x 20 poster (15.75 x 19.75 image size). What resolution/image size should I have for a poster that large? I'm guessing that 11753 x 14737 is overkill and should be shrunk down, but I'd like to figure out just how much. -- -Jason Levine Support a children's charity. Buy a calendar and/or a photo book. | reply to Jason Levine Since posters are not viewed a closely as is a snapshot, I think the minimum for a decent acceptable image is 180 ppi. I have done a 16x20 poster at 200 ppi and it turned out quite well. Another 16 x 20 I had done from a digital rendering at 360 ppi (5760 x 7200 pixels) was excellent. HTH -- amicitia sine fraude |
