How to use Westell 7500 modem with AT&T?

I have a Westell 7500 dsl modem that I received from Verizon. I moved and now have AT&T. When trying to set up the username and password at 192.168.1.1, I enter my AT&T username and password. It will not accept my username because AT&T usernames use an @ symbol. It says "Only characters a-z A-Z 0-9 are allowed in Username string." Is there any way around this? Thanks.

I never had that problem with my 327w.

Come to think of it, I did the setup in the "Multiple VC" page under the "Advanced" menu.

You might also want to check that you are not running into Verizon's Walled Garden (see »Verizon Online DSL FAQ »How to Turn off the Walled Garden ).

I went to the website to disable the walled garden and it said restricted, but did give me an option to disable, which I did. If I go there now, it is the same but gives me an option to enable, so I'm guessing that is taken care of.

I don't see anything related to "Multiple VC" under the advanced tab. The options are: Diagnostics, Restore Defaults, Reboot Gateway, Users, Quality of Service (QoS), Remote Administration, ALG, Detect WAN Configuration, Dynamic DNS, DNS Server, Configuration File, Firmware Upgrade, VPN, Universal Plug and Play, Date and Time, Routing, IP Address Distribution, Private LAN, Public LAN, RIP Configuration.

It just seems as if the firmware was only coded to only accept regular characters as usernames, I assume because this is all Verizon requires.

They must have removed that selection from the firmware.

You could try using a "%" in place of the "@". I have no idea whether that would work, but it might be worth trying.
